Early Childhood

Program Information

  • 4 year program; utilizing Working With Young Children textbook with additional materials supplemented by the Department of Children and Families.
  • Requires 480 inservice volunteer hours working with children aged three through six.
  • Requires the completion of th 40 hours of coursework (DCF Modulars) covered in class.
  • Requires child CPR and First Aid completion.
  • Requires VPK (Voluntary Pre-Kindergarten) Literacy course available through DCF (10 credit coursework).
  • Requires portfolio work at the completion of the four process to be reviewed by a CDA specialist, along with two teacher observations completed by the specialist.
  • Requires passing ALL seven DCF Modulars during the fourth year of the program and/or the CDA test.

Those completing the program may qualify for an ECPC (Early Childhood Professional Certificate) or a National CDA (Child Development Associate) Credential.
